Launched in 2014, Star of Bombay represents the incredibly impressive new release from iconic gin brand Bombay Sapphire. Along with the splendid repackaging, Star of Bombay features an additional two botanicals to the standard gin, in the form of bergamot orange peel from Calabria in southern Italy and ambrette seed from Ecuador. Weighing in at a higher ABV of 47.5%, this gin was designed in order to emphasise the aromatic profile of Bombay Sapphire’s core botanicals. This has been achieved by prolonging Bombay’s infamous vapour infusion process, to increase the extraction of botanical oils. The resulting gin is weighty, powerful and compelling. Remarkably intense, deliciously aromatic yet delicately balanced, this is a very different style of gin to Bombay’s standard release. An excellent addition to the premium gin market, this makes a delightful G&T or a versatile and delicious base for gin cocktails.
